ERIN ATKINS

Meet Erin Atkins

Erinna Atkins is an attorney in Alamogordo, where she practices law with her father, S. Bert Atkins. Specializing in family law, custody and guardianship, criminal law and children’s law, she works in and lives in the Twelfth Judicial District. She also proudly serves as the Guardian ad Litem in abuse and neglect cases representing children in foster care. 

 

Atkins is active in her local community and currently serves as a commissioner appointed by the Governor of New Mexico to the New Mexico Commission for Community Volunteerism. She is dedicated to volunteerism and serves on numerous boards, including being elected as the 6th District Bar Commissioner for the Board of Bar Commissioners governing the New Mexico State Bar, a board member for the Children’s Law Section of the State Bar, on the Twelfth Judicial District Pro Bono Committee, the Criminal Justice Coordination Council, and as pro bono counsel for state-wide non-profit service organization serving youth in New Mexico. Atkins also volunteers as the substitute Adult Drug Court Judge and recently began serving as the special prosecutor for the City of Alamogordo. Atkins was awarded the 2016 Young Lawyer of the Year Award for the Twelfth Judicial District. She received the distinguished honor of the 2018 Outstanding Service to the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar Award. Atkins has served as the President of the Twelfth Judicial District Bar Association, on the New Mexico Supreme Court Domestic Relations Rules Committee, the Supreme Court Board Governing the Recording of Judicial Proceedings, the Alamogordo Public Schools Labor Board, the Alamogordo City Labor Board, the Twelfth Judicial District Juvenile Justice Board, and currently serves on the New Mexico Supreme Court Code of Judicial Conduct Committee. She is a member of the New Mexico State Bar; New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association; National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the American Bar Association.  She is a proud graduate of Alamogordo High School and the University of the New Mexico. She is a second generation graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law, earning her degree in 2009. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and pets, and is proud to live and work in her hometown.
